Here are the check lists of things you will need , followed by things you may want to bring (but may not have considered), some of the things we will supply and a short list of things we do not want on the trip.
Must have:
- Motorcycle / kind of obvious but just in case someone out there thinks that we supply your bike. You must have your own motorcycle (see legal stuff for further information on your motorcycle requirements.)
- Change of clothes for 3 days (in fact all the items must include 3 days of use such as towels / washcloths ect ).
- Toiletries (soap, shampoo, deodorant, water shoes (or "flip-flops") for the showers, towels, washcloths, luggage (even gym bags are fine) and a dirty clothes bag.
- Your personal medicines (both prescription and over the counter.)
- Tent and sleeping bag(s) if you are coming with a friend you can make your own arrangements to share your tent just make sure you can both fit (I recommend you set the tent up at home before the trip if you are borrowing a tent from someone else so you: know how to set it up, know all the parts are there and know you can fit in it.)
- Riding apparel. Quality coat, gloves, boots and (if possible) riding pants. Rain suit (if possible.) The weather can and will change without notice and without warning. Possible cold mornings can occur even in the middle of summer in the mountains (and will certainly occur on fall rides.) Pack long underwear and a turtleneck just to be on the safe side.
- A good quality flashlight with an extra set of batteries (the elastic band headlights are perfect for inside the tent work and 2 am bathroom runs.) A flashlight is a must have item for your safety since campsites are always on uneven ground with trees / rocks and falling down in the dark is an accident that we would like to avoid.
Note that coleman type (either fuel or propane) lanters will NOT be permitted in tents since fires could occur / battery powered lights only.
Possible additions to increase your fun:
- Your own air bed / mattress.
- Your own folding camp chairs.
- Camera.
- fishing pole and lures (for evening use after the camp is set up / this is a motorcycle trip not a fishing trip but campsites may be near bodies of water.)
- Handheld GPS unit for evening hikes and possible geocaching sites (again for evening use after the camp is set up.)
- An I-pod or other type of MP3 player with ear buds if you want music. (Loud music at campsites is not permitted.)
AGMT will supply:
- Coleman type lanterns for the main site / food and campfire area.
- Camp stove, grill with charcoal and lighter fluid, cooking utensils, plates, silverware.
- Food. Due to NYS health department regulations we will pay for the food as part of the package but our first stop will be at the grocery store where you will pick out the food for the trip.
- Beer. Picked up at the grocery store and iced in the support vehicle for the end of the day. Now we hope that we do not have to enforce this rule BUT a few beers during the evening and a few more around the campfire would be acceptable. This is a motorcycle trip not an opportunity to get loaded and see if you can function the next day / we all must be ready to ride safely the next morning and all day.
- Bottled water, juice for breakfast and soft drinks.
- Air beds / if you do not have one to bring (Note: message us when you sign up so we can make sure we have enough available for everyone.)
- Sunscreen and bug spray. (If you have your own favorite then bring it with you.)
- Nylon type camp folding chairs.
- Basic hand tools, oils and sprays, cleaners and expertise to ASSIST in small repairs on the motorcycles if necessary.
- Split firewood.
- Music played at a comfortable level (only till the 10:00 PM or other stated campground "quiet time" rule.)
- Cards and a backgammon set.
Not allowed / Do Not Bring:
- Guns or other weapons (other than personal pocket knives.)
- Illegal drugs / again this is a motorcycle trip not a weekend party trip. Please respect the fact that everyone on these trips rely on everyone else's judgment while riding in a group therefore riding with a clear head is a must.
- Fireworks (we maintain long term relationships with the other businesses we use.)
