A little background about me:
I was born Buffalo NY and I am married with an adult son in the US Army. I grew up with two siblings, an older sister and a younger brother. My brother and his family, own Western NY Cycle a franchised Honda Motorcycle dealer located in Lockport NY (obviously also avid motorcycle enthusiasts.) Visit his business at www.wnycycle.com
My family, father, brother and 4 uncles are all mechanically inclined (3 of the 4 uncles were full time auto mechanics while I was growing up.) I assisted in all types mechanical tasks from the time was able to carry tools. I purchased, repaired and sold my first car (a 1964 VW beetle) when I was 14 years old. I have ridden motorcycles since I was young and have truly grown-up on bikes.
I graduated at the top of my class at Kenton Boces and graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 1977 with honors. I worked in 2 different franchised GM dealers (Pontiac Cadillac for 2 years and Oldsmobile 18 years) while maintaining ASE Master Mechanic Certification from 1978 to present. I am now employed full-time in a Governmental Regulatory Agency.
I restored and maintain a classic car, a 1967 Impala SS. I own two vintage motorcycles, a 1983 Honda CB1100F that I bought new and a 1979 Honda CB750F that was “restified” (restored / modified) with suspension, wheels and brakes from a 1995 Honda CBR600F3.
My family has enjoyed outdoor related activities for 5 generations. My great-grandparents, grandparents and my parents camped in tents and rented state park cabins. From the time I was young I learned the skills necessary for safe and enjoyable camping trips. In the mid-1960’s my parents bought a used camping trailer. I still own and use the camping trailer they bought new in 1974. My son continues the family outdoor tradition of camping with us and his friends when he can find the time.
